About Me

The Full Story

I have always been drawn to the field of psychology, as both of my parents are social workers; it was the only subject in school that sparked a passion for a career. I figured out I wanted to become a mental health counselor when I saw the need for unconditional support in our country and felt I had the qualities to be that support. My mission in becoming a counselor was to be an understanding and safe space for others. Empathy is the quality every counselor should have; I also have warmth, active listening, the ability to connect, kindness, humor, and unconditional positive regard.

I attended Suffolk University and received an M.S in Mental Health Counseling. After I graduated, I worked in the city of Boston in a Community Mental Health Center. I moved back to Connecticut where I obtained my license to become an LPC and have been working here since. I have worked with various ages, demographics, and issues in individual and group settings, which has provided me with a range of skills to address a multitude of concerns.

My Approach

Within therapy treatment, I tend to utilize a variety of modalities/interventions which will be determined based on the uniqueness of the individual, which can be described as an integrative and/or eclectic therapy approach. Some common ones you may see include the following:

- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)         -Motivational Interviewing

- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)       - Solution-focused Therapy

- Attachment-based Therapy                        - Positive Psychology

- Psychodynamic Therapy                              - Culturally Sensitive

- Strengths-based Therapy                            - Interpersonal Therapy

- Person-centered Therapy

My Other Roles

Other than being a therapist full-time, I would describe myself as a homebody with spontaneous urges for adventure! You can find me most of the time spending time with my beautiful German Shepherd boy (see picture below), reading, being out in nature, trying new food restaurants, catching up on shows/movies, and spending time with friends/family. I also have a travel itch when I have the time to explore different parts of the country and out in the world!
